I'm sure I'm not the first one to use the term "Black Cloud Computing". My thoughts were really about my concerns over working on a client's project via cloud computing, whose information is proprietary or related to national security. This now reminds me of the scifi show, Battlestar Galatica. The Cylons (really bad tempered androids) were able to completely shut down the networked defense systems protecting the planets of billions of humans. Only one of the battlestars (the Galatica) was unaffected because its defense computer systems were independent not connected to a central network.

My point being that, sharing sensitive information could be a very dangerous thing. Especially if bad tempered cybernetic living organisms get there hands on it.

In response to: It's all about solving problems...

That depends on the problem to be solved. Someone needs some simple fabrication drawings created from a set of sketches. Easy. Then, a company requests that a cartoner machine be reverse engineered so it can be modified to accommodate a new carton size that is beyond the parameters of the machine's current design. This is considerably more complex and therefore more expensive. In the end, the value of the output of the operation must justify the cost of modifying the machine. This is why its important to thoroughly review the manufacturing processes to find the real source of problems and not what is perceived to be the problem.

Thanks,
This subject caught my eye and I really had to stop and read the rest. I was reading just the other day on a internet site akin to this that it is beginning to have a signficant impact on not only typical people but the wider population. I am of the view that this will most definately help to further these particular causes even more.
